Broadway Oyster Bar Restaurant Review:

This joint is jumpin’ after baseball games and other downtown events, but for true blues fans the best time to go is weeknights. Mondays, for example, are traditionally reserved for the Soulard Blues Band. The drafty, uneven 1820s building and equally idiosyncratic patio are both a fine setting for the music. The kitchen nails buckets of crawfish, oyster po’ boys, red beans and rice, jambalaya and savory cheesecake with alligator sausage and shrimp. The shuckers claim they go through 500 oysters a night, and we believe them after seeing countless customers chow down on oysters Rockefeller. The bread pudding hits the sweet spot. Cocktails like the Sazerac and hurricane deliver a taste of The Big Easy, while the ginger-peach Manhattan relies on local ginger liqueur for its kick. This is one of three neighboring clubs that together anchor the city’s blues scene, making it a destination for music lovers from all walks of life.
