Brompton Bar & Grill Restaurant Review:
Brompton Bar & Grill is a smart, slick establishment with cartoons on the walls, and crisply laid tables set against banquettes around the walls, a long zinc bar and regular live jazz and cabaret downstairs. This is unashamedly British, urban and cool. The menu has the occasional nod towards the continent, with touches such as truffle oil in the mushroom soup and a pesto orecchiette, but its heart is true blue British from its signature Brompton fish stew to the lemon and raspberry posset. The wine list is good and contains some bargains, and for those who like to live a little more dangerously, the restaurant offers a menu of absinthe cocktails. Service is delightful, particularly if you get the full charm treatment from the owner, François O’Neill. All in all, he’s got it absolutely right, even without the jazz and cabaret.
