Caboose Brewing Company Restaurant Review:
Easily the most unusual restaurant in the metro area, this “caboose” destination is not actually a caboose, but is on the same access road as Vienna’s historic caboose that sits right on Church Street. And it is directly next to the W&OD bike path that winds through Northern Virginia --- don’t be surprised to see bicyclists come in for a snack and brew with their helmets still on. All of this sets the picture for what is a contemporary, easygoing place that brews its own beers and has a kitchen that puts out farm-fresh American fare. Must-haves are the kale salad with dried cranberries, the steak plates, the crispy pork belly and the shrimp and cheddar grits. Desserts include sweet potato beignets with a chocolate dipping sauce. Weekend brunch service offers some of the same dishes but also adds bourbon french toast and a farmers’ egg frittata. Check out all the heady brews, too.
