Café Lido sits in an ideal tourist location-on the ground floor of an eye-catching building at the end of a long pier that reaches out into Tampa Bay. The Pier, an upside-down pyramid-shaped building, lures visitors just by its architecture, and inside there are shops, cafés, restaurants, even a small aquarium. The café features Italian food with a seafood emphasis, but this isn't a cookie-cutter tourist's menu. The tutto mare pasta, a seafood combo of shrimp, scallops and mussels, is sautéed with white wine and a red marinara sauce over spaghetti. There is also the fish of the day and steak, chicken and pasta. And the view, especially at night, is worth a meaningful gaze or two, so don't plan to eat in a hurry.
