Caffe Luna Restaurant Review:
Owner Parker Kennedy lovingly oversees the cozy stucco-walled dining room adorned with paintings by his artist wife, Nicole. The menu reflects the décor, conjuring up a typical northern Italian trattoria. Appetizers cover the sunny spectrum from calamari fritti to a caprese salad with fresh basil, and a traditional antipasti plate featuring imported cheeses and salumi including sopressata and capicola. The house specialty is Lasagna Bolognese. Other appealing pasta dishes include linguine with seafood, bowtie pasta with salmon in a pink sauce, and fresh ravioli stuffed with spinach and ricotta. Steaks and tuna are grilled to individual specifications, and the veal chops are often served simply with browned butter, lemon and capers. Tiramisu and tartufo --- a chocolate and ice cream ball with chocolate shavings, maraschino cherries and candied walnuts --- are dessert standouts. Caffé Luna's modestly priced wine list is especially strong in Italian offerings. Although only a few wines are available by the glass, most of the selections on the principal list cost under $30 a bottle. There’s also a reserve list.
