THIS RESTAURANT IS CLOSED Casa de Sevilla Restaurant Review:
Casa de Sevilla was a club for Santa Barbara's old money for many decades after it opened in 1926. It is the town's oldest restaurant, beating the noisy Joe's, which is nearby, by two years. The lighting is dim, the walls are decorated with bullfight posters and the fireplace flickers. It's easy to be transported back to the times when the town's movers and shakers lunched here. You'll see the older generation of film stars sipping margaritas and enjoying the restaurant's most famous dish, chiles rellenos. There's steak, of course, and Santa Barbara mussels, salmon and abalone. The cappuccino ice cream remains the favorite dessert. Jackets are no longer required at dinner although the owners appreciate proper attire. Hidden away a block off State Street, this restaurant is so low-key that many locals have never even heard of it.
