THIS RESTAURANT IS CLOSED Chego Restaurant Review:
Roy Choi revolutionized gourmet food trucks with his cult fusion Kogi Korean BBQ-To-Go, and his subsequent brick-and-mortar venues like A-Frame have also been keenly popular. Here, Choi brings the iconic rice bowl to new multicultural heights in Chego’s second home, nestled into Chinatown’s Far East Plaza (the original was in Palms). Fans will still find favorites like the Chubby Pork Belly (kochujang-lacquered Kurobuta, fried egg, pickled radishes, water spinach, Chinese broccoli, cotija and peanuts); we’re partial to the Sour Cream Hen House (marinated grilled chicken, fried egg, Chinese broccoli, sour cream sambal, Thai basil, toasted sesame and red jalapeño). Variations include the Kung Pau creamy bowl, redolent with fresh Southeast Asian herbs, and the savory Kimchi Spam bowl with scrambled eggs, which is a perfect late breakfast. Don’t resist beer-battered Ooey Gooey Fries, or for dessert, the Sriracha Bar’s medley of chocolate ganache, caramel and spice.
