China Tasty Restaurant Review:
China Tasty connects to an Alhambra bowling alley and stars Lanzhou-style hand-pulled noodles. The restaurant resides in Golden Mile Plaza and houses faux brick and yellow walls, reclaimed wood booths and benches, and a glass-fronted view of the resident noodle master. Noodles come in four shapes: standard round, small flat, medium flat or triangle noodle. Green beans steamed noodles, the simplest dish, may be the best. Round noodles come coated in pork jus and chopped pork. Lamb triple noodle soup features pleasantly funky lamb heart, stomach and more recognizable cuts in a murky broth with triangle noodles. House special chicken with noodle involves tender bone-in nubs of dark meat that pair best with flat noodles that get tossed with chiles and vegetables. When China Tasty strays from noodles, results vary. For instance, juicy pork steamed buns don't live up to their name and are on the sweet side, with fairly thick skins. Also, five spices bean curd sheets resemble coils of tape and don't taste much better. To drink, China Tasty serves milk teas, slushes, smoothies, fresh fruit green teas and juices, plus hot teas and beers, both bottled and on draft, including Tsingtao, Goose Island and Shock Top.
