Citricos Restaurant Review:
One of the best-kept secrets at Disney World, Cítricos is tucked on the second floor at Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa, where chef Phillip Ponticelli creates a seasonal menu. Appetizers include crispy-creamy arancini (balls of fried risotto with sausage) and citrus-marinated rock shrimp, black grouper, mussels, crab and beets. For a main course, the signature braised veal shank with roasted vegetables is always first-rate; for something lighter, you can’t go wrong with pan-seared Florida grouper with fregola pasta, littleneck clams and tomato-saffron sauce. Meals are orchestrated in a marble-topped open kitchen where the cooks are clearly visible from the dining room. Desserts, from a tropical fruit crème brûlée to a warm chocolate-banana torte, get an artful flourish in the finishing kitchen that's part of the dining room. Sommeliers will happily pair a wine with any course from the list of nearly 200 selections.
