Claddagh Pub Restaurant Review:
There’s nothing like Irish hospitality to help you ease your way into a sociable frame of mind. That’s what happens at this neighborhood pub, where you just might find yourself chatting with your new best friend at a neighboring table. Whether in the bar or dining room, "friendly" is the word for the place and its twenty- to sixty-something clientele. Even the environs are welcoming, with flickering candlelight and sepia-toned murals of Irish musicians in the main dining room. On the menu is an appealing mix of sandwiches and bar food, with a dozen or so rib-sticking entrées thrown in. (The cuisine is good-old American; despite the name, this is not solely an Irish restaurant.) If a big, juicy burger or a shrimp salad sandwich doesn’t do it for you, then try a 14-ounce New York strip, ragù di cinghiale or jumbo lump crab cakes. Appetizers are big enough to share, and desserts are served in equally hearty portions. Not surprisingly, some first-rate Irish whiskies are offered, but there's plenty more on the bar menu.
