THIS RESTAURANT IS CLOSED The Coconut Club Restaurant Review:
What a place for a celebration! Every Friday and Saturday night, the Grand Ballroom of the Beverly Hilton is transformed into a glamorous supper club right out of the '40s, with white-leatherette booths, shimmering silver and gold palm trees, neon monkeys and lighted columns changing from pink to green to blue. Well-known big bands play for dancers until two in the morning, and professional dancers in zoot suits are on hand to teach neophytes the basics, from salsa to swing. The supper menu is all over the map, with entrées ranging from a tempura Chilean sea bass relleno on a bed of salsa fresca risotto to an oak-roasted jerk chicken breast on a Vera Cruz-style rice cake to a blackened prime New York strip with ropa vieja hash browns. In addition to a cover charge, be ready to pay a minimum per person for dinner reservations.
