Consiglio's Restaurant Review:
Now in the care of a third generation of this welcoming family, Consiglio's has been a neighborhood fixture since the 1930s. With its soothing décor of earth tones and mauves, pleasant landscape paintings and traditional Italian fare, it's a go-to spot for celebrations. Among classic starters, try the mushrooms stuffed with sausage, roasted red peppers, spinach and mozzarella, drizzled with a delicate garlic lemon butter sauce, and a crispy-thin margherita pizzette. Entrées include the “cavatelli and braciole”: homemade pasta and thinly sliced beef, rolled with Parmesan, garlic and basil and simmered in tomato sauce. Or try homemade lobster ravioli topped with jumbo shrimp in a rich tomato cream sauce. The Godiva tiramisu and the homemade crêpes filled with strawberries, Nutella and vanilla gelato are fine finishes to a hearty meal. The wine list’s Italian regional varietals complement the menu. Al fresco dining on the patio, cooking classes and dinner theater events are pluses.
