THIS RESTAURANT IS CLOSED Coppa Ristorante Italiano Restaurant Review:
Charles Clark and Grant Cooper have several popular restaurant concepts in Houston, and their Coppa Ristorante Italiano is no exception. The Washington Avenue eatery is always packed for happy hour and you might need reservations on a Friday night. Executive chef Brandi Key turns out small plates, pastas and pizzas from a Mugnaini brick oven handcrafted by Refrattari Valoriani. Pizzas range from the arugula to the ham-and-egg pie topped with spicy air-dried pork shoulder and quail eggs. But don’t pass up some of the signature dishes, such as the spaghetti carbonara or the gnocchi with oyster mushrooms and truffle oil. Key sources seasonal vegetables as sides for steak and chicken dishes. There’s a good by-the-glass wine list, too, and mixologist Kris Sowell whips up some fine craft cocktails.
