THIS RESTAURANT IS CLOSED Crave on 42nd Street Restaurant Review:
Crave on 42nd Street is former "Top Chef" contestant Dave Martin’s showcase, featuring a surprisingly affordable menu that leans heavily toward American comfort food with international flair: think savory roasted bell pepper and artichoke heart hummus, burgers, pizza, and a “hanging tenderloin martini” (chunks of tenderloin topped with Asian ginger pan sauce and served in a martini glass). The creamy, brandy-laced, black truffle-dusted mac ‘n’ cheese that Martin cooked up on Top Chef gets an encore here---and for good reason. The Roman-style margherita pizza is authentic in its cracker-thin crust. The egregious amount of sauce that drenches the mascarpone and apple ravioli make the dish more Mulberry Street than Milan, but it is saved by its inventiveness. The wine list is nicely chosen, with most of the bottles clocking in between $30 to $40.
