THIS RESTAURANT IS CLOSED Cuban Cafe Restaurant Review:
This Cuban eatery is an unpretentious storefront with walls lined with colorful art and images of Havana street scenes. On one visit, the kitchen was out of several items on the menu, and the ham croquetas, which are often quite good, were left in the fryer too long. But these missteps do not detract from the restaurant's charm. Other starters include papas rellenas (potato balls stuffed with beef), empanadas and Cuban tamales. The main courses are generally very successful, including a good lechón asada (roasted pork marinated in sour orange and garlic) and ropa vieja served with plantains and “moros y cristianos” (black beans mixed with white rice). Finish with flan layered with chocolate cake and enjoy the lively sounds of Cuban jazz on weekends.
