Chef-owner Jack Kreitzman hit a homer many years ago with San Francisco's former Little Italy restaurant and still owns popular Jackson Fillmore, also in San Francisco. The Marin resident's third restaurant, Cucina, is a 42-seat space in his hometown of San Anselmo. The space is clean-cut and warm, with a wood-fired oven that dominates the main room. There’s a small wine bar and separate, smaller eating area at the back. Dishes include an unusual raw zucchini and almond carpaccio, smoke-blistered pizzas with lush toppings such as chanterelles and Fontina, country-style platters of sausages, and chicken with peppers, onions and garlic. This is a terrific place for families. The well-priced wine list is a bonus.
