Cucina Toscana Tuscan Trattoria Restaurant Review:
It's not often that restaurants in Salt Lake City surprise the senses, but Cucina Toscana Tuscan Trattoria delights patrons with its industrial, boisterous atmosphere, hefty Italian menu and wine list. Start off with complimentary bruschetta while you scan the bounty of appetizers, entrées and pastas. The Caesar salad is prepared tableside, and the mains arrive just as fresh. The piccata di pollo is a buttery song of capers, artichokes and mushrooms, but if you prefer your chicken marinated in sage, rosemary and garlic, that's available, too. Several seafood dishes, like the salmon filet with tomato sauce and spinach, are worthy as well. Despite the loud and crowded feel --- and the overhead ducts --- intimate tables and attentive waiters encourage an ideal date night. For dessert, the kitchen treats diners to a rich espresso cup of homemade hot cocoa with lemon biscotti. If you don't have a reservation, the hosts predict an hour wait, but the restaurant is large enough for rapid turnover so you might get lucky.
