Da Ciro Brooklyn Restaurant Review:

Ciro Verdi revived this Murray Hill-based, rustic Italian restaurant and pizzeria in Clinton Hill. Like the original, the warm bi-level space and dark wood paneling of this location is immediately inviting. A wood-fired oven creates the roster of crispy pizzas that were drawn from the former menu and helped to make the place a neighborhood favorite. Of these, the namesake variety with tomato sauce, homemade mozzarella, oven-dried tomatoes, mushrooms, arugula and prosciutto presents a roasted, savory and pungent taste combination. Pastas are top draw as well and include orecchiette with broccoli rabe and sausage, and black linguine with calamari, shrimp and scallops tossed in a subtly spicy tomato sauce. A seafood salad with shrimp, scallops and calamari over arugula, olives, potatoes, tomatoes and asparagus offers a lighter but no less flavorful entrée, while a tender oven-baked pork chop in a mushroom sauce accompanied by spinach and mashed potatoes is an ideal choice on the hearty side. Sorbets and a delicate napoleon filled with vanilla custard and fresh strawberries provide satisfying endings.
