Dave's Chillin-N-Grillin Restaurant Review:
New England-native and owner Dave Evans excites Eagle Rock taste buds with his premium sub sandwiches. Students from nearby Occidental College are especially fond of the friendly service, generous portions and low prices. Popular options include the juicy French dip, as well as the Thursday special "The Pilgrim" --- sliced turkey breast, thick gravy, cranberry spread and stuffing. Another winner, "The Hodge Podge," incorporates meatballs wrapped in roast beef and pastrami, then topped with onions, mozzarella, Parmesan and hot sauce. Hearty ground beef and London broil chili is seasoned with chile powder and cumin; in a nod to his heritage, Evans even makes a clean-tasting clam chowder. The “Chillin” part of the name refers to a selection of fresh fruit smoothies, some of which are blended with sherbet. "Everything Nice" is aptly named for its mix of strawberries, blueberries, bananas, peaches and raspberries.
