Derby Club Restaurant Review:

While dining at the Derby Club is limited to the eight or so months that the greyhounds are racing in St. Petersburg, this restaurant has sustained itself as a mecca for prime rib lovers. The Wednesday lunch buffet is also a perennial hit. The prime rib buffet is served each evening, augmented by a rotating variety of additional items like ham, pork or roast duck. Included are all-you-can-eat king crab legs and shrimp. There are no à la carte entrées but there is a large selection of desserts like Key lime and pecan pies, banana splits and hot fudge sundaes. If those sound like desserts tykes would love, alas, diners must be at least 12 years old to eat in the Derby Club and at least 21 to line up at the parimutuel windows adjacent to the dining room. There's also a dollar admission charge to the Derby Club. Since there are closed-circuit TV sets at every table, diners can watch their money run around the track---or just enjoy the view.
