Desta Ethiopian Kitchen Restaurant Review:
On this corner of northeast Atlanta, three Ethiopian restaurants vie for attention: Desta is one of them. Come for breakfast and enjoy foul (pronounced “fool”), a bean dish to be enjoyed with scrambled eggs. At lunch or dinner, all dishes are eaten with injera, the spongy bread that serves as a utensil for this cuisine. We’ve enjoyed the lamb dishes and fish tib, or stew, but the legume-based fare may well be the best. The berbere sauce condiment can be quite hot, but its deep flavor is worth the heat. We also recommend the sambusas (cousin to South Asian samosas). The white honey wine is excellent with this cuisine, and not that sweet. Otherwise, get a beer.
