Dishes Restaurant Review:
This is where Manhattan’s elite come to grab lunch; on any given day in the bustling interior you might see the Rangers goalie or a high-powered PR maven. No matter their stature, all must maneuver around the steam table and salad bar. Selections from the hot and cold bar change on a daily basis, but there are staples, such as the all-white-meat coconut chicken fingers. Seafood choices range from grilled salmon with dill sauce to breaded tilapia, along with plenty of starchy sides like hearty penne alla vodka. A wide array of soups and sandwiches are also made on the premises, going beyond the classics to include a turkey cranberry with Brie or vegetarian tom yum soup with glass noodles and shiitake mushrooms. The mammoth pastries dispel any notions that Dishes is a health food joint.
