El Porton Mexican Restaurant Restaurant Review:
El Portón’s menu is more Tex-Mex than authentic Mexican, with wraps (one with Memphis-style barbecue) at lunch and a heavy emphasis on meats, sour cream and cheese. Avocado-studded chicken soup, however, comes close to soups found in the Yucatán, and the lime-cured shrimp ceviche has hints of Mexican authenticity. Fajitas, a Tex-Mex classic, are available, as well as half-a-dozen combinations for vegetarians. Margaritas are tasty and Mexican beers are offered, too, along with a few domestics. We also like the sangría, but don‘t look for the house wines to excite. Among the desserts, choose the house-made flan. Other locations.
