THIS RESTAURANT IS CLOSED Elements Cafe Restaurant Review:
One of Pasadena’s undiscovered gems, Elements Café reveals itself on busy Fair Oaks Avenue with its row of white linen-topped tables shaded by cheery golden umbrellas wrapping around the building. The dining room, with its entrance on a side street, is a tiny, intimate space only in demand when the weather is unfavorable for al fresco dining. Sandwiches are consistent winners, such as cheesesteak with tri-tip, caramelized onions, garlicky aïoli and a cheese from the Pyrenees instead of a South Philly warehouse, or a tasty duck egg-chicken salad on rye. The mac ‘n’ cheese, laced with wild mushrooms and spiked with aromatic truffle oil, is addictive.
