THIS RESTAURANT IS CLOSED Patria Restaurant Review:

Think South America-meets-chic-New York at this funky, colorful and lively restaurant. Founding chef/co-owner, Douglas Rodriguez invented the restaurant's signature Nuevo Latino cuisine (which turned Rodriguez into a popular cookbook author and the star behind Chicama) and made the vibrant spot a foodie destination. Since Rodriguez left the restaurant, executive chef Andrew DiCataldo has carried on the torch keeping the Latin theme but focusing more on regional cuisines. Have an exotic Latin American cocktail and start with, say, a tamal de huitlacoche (a tamale that's filled with corn truffle) and move on to aji de gallina (a Peruvian stew of guinea hen). Though the level of cooking has slipped since Rodriguez's departure, the spicy vibe is still a draw. The wine list is short but includes an intriguing selection of South American and Spanish wines.
