Extra Billy's Steak & Barbecue Restaurant Review:
Lovable, old-school Extra Billy's draws diners with its prime rib on Fridays and Saturdays, family-friendliness (free Oreos for the kids) and, above all, plenty of ever-available hickory-smoked barbecue dinner choices. They include a sampler for those who can’t choose among beef brisket, baby-back ribs, Texas smoked sausage and chicken. Sandwiches such as smoked turkey and the original “Billy Burger” can be had at dinner as well as lunch. Buffalo chicken wings and onion strings are a poetic way to kick off your meal, and desserts are homemade and tempting, so save room for the coconut cream pie or apple cobbler. There’s an active take-out counter if you can’t stand the wait. A second location in Midlothian, 1110 Alverser Dr., 804-379-8727 (similar menu, different hours), boasts a brewery.
