Fado Irish Pub Restaurant Review:
Fadó Irish Pub is located in the Metropolis high-rise condominium building at 8th and Peachtree Streets. Like its older sibling in Buckhead, this branch is powered by Guinness and stays open to the wee hours. The interior has been completely reconfigured, crafting a series of intimate, small spaces within the larger one, as well as a comfortable street-side patio. Start with any of the chicken stock-based soups or the potato fries topped with cheddar and bacon. Irish breakfast is served all day, although you'll have to order a side of beans if you want what is de rigueur for any proper Irish breakfast. Traditional dishes include boxty, a potato pancake. Here it's stuffed with steak or blackened chicken and shrimp. Boxty also gets cut into wedges, fried and served with a cheese dip --- sort of Ireland meets Mexico, as it frequently does on the menu, with a pair of tacos and a carne asada burger. Launch a weekend's merriment with banana bread french toast and eggs Benedict at brunch. There's a dull wine list if that's what you insist on having, but this is a pub so go with suds. Plenty of good whisky, too, especially Irish. Happy Hour from 4 p.m.-7 p.m. weekdays offers special drink and appetizer prices. Also located at 273 Buckhead Ave., 404-841-0066.
