Famous Dave's Restaurant Review:
Barbecue galvanizes opinion, but even though it's a Minnesota-based chain we think Famous Dave's holds its own against more down-home efforts. The St. Louis-style pork ribs are tender and smoky and can be ordered with sauce or “naked,” and Dave's signature spice rub makes them a treat even when served plain. For those who like saucier ribs, every table has squeeze bottles filled with condiments both fiery and sweet. Groups of four should order the All-American Feast for a cornucopia of barbecue ribs, barbecue chicken, beef brisket, corn muffins, Wilbur beans and french fries. Served on a paper-lined garbage can lid, this dish shouts to the world that you're ready to hunker down. Don’t forget the homemade desserts: “Better Than Mom’s Pecan Pie” really is. With more than a dozen locations citywide, the chain's ubiquity may seem to spoil Dave's homey feel, but once you have a rack of ribs in front of you, it's unlikely you'll lift your eyes from your plate to notice.
