THIS RESTAURANT IS CLOSED Fianco Restaurant Review:
With a name that means hillside in Italian, it’s not surprising that Lakeview’s Fianco is full of rustic charm, both on the plates and in terms of its ambience. The loft-like space with its exposed brick walls, a high ceiling, vintage black-and-white photos and large front window is the perfect setting for the ingredient-driven Italian dishes of chef Matt Troost, formerly of Chicago’s Peninsula hotel and Aspen’s The Little Nell. Standout starters include the chicken liver pâté with house-made pickles and toasted farro salad. The made-in-house pastas, such as the sweet pea-ricotta agnolotti with tarragon-butter sauce, sound simple enough. But their spot-on execution says otherwise. Entrées, like duck with gnocchi, are equally appealing. A reasonably priced, all-Italian wine list keeps the mood upbeat.
