FireLake Grill House & Cocktail Bar Restaurant Review:
About the restaurant: Oh, that all hotel restaurants were as inviting, affordable, and produced such good Midwestern fare as this one. With its comfy horseshoe-shaped booths, an action-filled open kitchen, a brick oven (the better to sizzle steaks and chops in), and a proud chef who cares enough about the food presented here to make table rounds, it's no wonder this place hosts both locals and business travelers on expense accounts.
Food: We also appreciate the way the state's specialties are incorporated into menu offerings---the delicate walleye and wild rice cakes being examples. Entrées include a pecan-smoked pork chop, and a mesquite-grilled tenderloin. Our little secret? When we want to treat out-of-town guests to a real Minnesota favorite, we bring them here for the roasted corn-dusted walleye---along with a Lake Cabin martini.
