First Watch Restaurant Review:

Based in Bradenton, Florida, First Watch has several locations in Atlanta's northern 'burbs, and also this outpost in Decatur. The bright, cheery interiors are enlivened by artwork the company has commissioned for each branch; here, a somewhat impressionistic cow portrait graces the wall. Start with the healthy, tasty kale-based drink or the version with juiced beets and turmeric; these change seasonally but the latter will wake you up better than the very good coffee. While there are frittatas and omelets galore for breakfast, you may craft your own combo. The kitchen knows how to poach an egg properly, and the biscuit is good. Sausage cream gravy is made with turkey sausage, though, explaining why we couldn't pick up much flavor. Both signature bacon preparations are treated to a sweetness coating, which obscures the taste of the bacon, but untampered with bacon is available as well. Try the grits, either plain or with cheese. Lunch focuses on sandwiches, salads and soups, and breakfast is available until closing at 2:30 p.m. No alcohol.
