Five Star Burgers Restaurant Review:
When your name implies burgers worthy of five stars, you’d better deliver. Chef Steve Gontram does, whether his hand-formed patties of freshly ground Black Angus beef are served with the classic condiments of pickles, lettuce, tomato and onion or more extravagantly with roast tomato-bacon jam, port-braised onions or sautéed forest mushrooms. Our favorite is the Gateway, topped with smoked bacon, cheddar, onion rings and barbecue sauce, but the bison burger’s espresso-pepper rub and caramelized onions land it a close second. Both the Russet and the sweet potato fries are satisfyingly crisp, and we applaud the decision to offer a basket of both. Eight local craft beers are on tap, surrounded by a broad selection of bottled microbrews. Desserts (in the form of milk shakes) are meant to be eaten first, especially when they’re liberally mixed with rum, bourbon or tequila.
