FM Kitchen and Bar Restaurant Review:
About the restaurant: FM Kitchen and Bar couldn’t be further from chef Ryan Hildebrand’s former, fancy Triniti Restaurant + Bar. The interior could double as an old-school country garage and the huge patio out back welcomes bands, local graffiti artists and dogs. It’s like a little slice of rural Texas in the city.
Likes: The charred elote tastes just like the ear of corn you’d buy from a street vendor in Mexico City: slathered in cheese and onions.
Dislikes: With kids, dogs and live music, the patio can get a little rowdy, but guests may always move inside to a quiet table near the large windows.
Food & Drinks: The menu specializes in burgers, big, juicy ones that are topped with everything from thick-cut bacon and cheese to fried eggs and chili. Pair your choice with sides like fries and tater tots (we like ours with queso and jalapeños) and a thick shake and you’ve got a hearty meal. If you order an entrée you might want to share; the chicken fried steak is as big as the plate it arrives on and the smoked pork ribs come as a half rack. Yes, there are soups and salads, but that’s not why you came here, is it? Also on the menu are other meats and wings, frito pies, baked oysters and corn dogs. Sundays feature sausage biscuits and breakfast tacos as well as mimosas. Expect plenty of regional beers on tap, a very well-priced wine list and cocktails, too.
