THIS RESTAURANT IS CLOSED Fontleroy's Southern Restaurant Restaurant Review:
Chef/owner Allan Rosenberg has created a Southern-inflected menu loaded with updates of traditional dishes. Starters include “the caviar of the South,” pimento cheese in a jar with grilled bread as well as fried green tomatoes topped with crab meat. There’s a kale Caesar salad and one with beets, carrots and goat cheese. Choose from entrées like chicken and sweet potato waffle dressed in maple bourbon syrup and sorghum butter, cornmeal-crusted catfish and duck confit potpie. Banana pudding and red velvet cake are among the desserts. All this is served up in a retro-garage lined in white tile. The bar looks more like a diner counter and offers a selection of sophisticated cocktails, draft craft beer and reliable, inexpensive wine. Service is timely and unflaggingly friendly.
