Frankies 570 Spuntino Restaurant Review:
After success in Brooklyn with Prime Meats and Frankies 457 Spuntino, the two Franks (Castronovo and Falcinelli) have set up shop in the West Village. The philosophy at this venture isn’t wildly different: you’ll find small plates, sandwiches, and some larger-portioned dishes, and all are composed with high quality ingredients. Start with crostini, especially the sardine-topped variety (though be warned: the portion sizes are miniscule). Follow with the tender meatballs, which are given a kick with pine nuts and raisins, or the pork belly, a fatty, very edible mess. The all-Italian wine list is short but generally affordable with a small handful of bottles in the $30 range. This place was a hit from day one, so expect a wait or come early.
