Fresca on Addison Restaurant Review:
When it started, it was like “bring your daughter to work day” every day at Fresca, where the inimitable Jimmy Sneed (who carved out his larger-than-life reputation with the late Jean-Louis Palladin at The Frog and The Redneck) and his talented offspring Jenna make eating your vegetables fun. In fact, that’s what you’ll have to eat at this take-out/delivery sweet spot. It’s not that they’re veg-heads (well, Jenna’s vegan, Jimmy’s not), but when fresh, local, organic produce can be turned into curried butternut squash soup with coconut milk and toasted almonds; a white bean-and-sweet potato “burger” with curry mayo, red onion and avocado; a sushi sandwich refreshingly filled with cucumber, carrot, nori, pickled ginger, avocado and wasabi mayo; and piping hot pizza straight out of the brick oven (savory and sweet, such as a dessert pizza of pear-raspberry jam and candied ginger), you won’t even miss the meat. Most all the vegetarian dishes can be made vegan or gluten-free. Life here is ultra-casual --- order at the counter and the food is delivered to your table --- but the quality of ingredients and care in preparation make it feel first class. It’s really Jenna’s baby as Jimmy has gotten involved in other ventures, but her daughter is often here now, too.
