Gandy Dancer Restaurant Review:

Built in 1886 in the turreted, Romanesque Revival style, Gandy Dancer is known for its American cuisine and 19th-century elegance. Choose the blue crab club sandwich or the lobster grilled cheese. Or try coconut-macadamia-crusted shrimp with sweet Thai chili butter, coconut ginger rice and fresh vegetables. Potato-crusted whitefish with crispy hash browns with bacon and onion in a lemon beurre blanc; and salmon Rockefeller, stuffed with jumbo lump crab, spinach and bacon, topped with a béarnaise, are winners. Meat and pasta lovers won’t be disappointed either with peppery tournedos with crimini demi-glace and Reggiano potato croquettes, or Tuscan chicken pasta with roasted mushrooms, sun-dried tomatoes, kalamata olives and shallots in delicate wine and chicken broth. Enjoy a glass of wine with your dinner as there's an extensive list of reds and whites, as well as sparkling wines from all over the globe. Prices vary so there are plenty of selections for every pocketbook. Not to be missed is the Sunday Jazz Brunch, which brings items like carved ham and roast beef and eggs Benedict, just to name a few. Note to diners: Ignore rumors of the well-dressed ghost who roams the hallways. He probably only wants your food.
