Maison Mulot Restaurant Review:
This is not only a favorite of 6th arrondissement locals --- dropping in for a café au lait and croissant on the way to work or picking up a baguette on the way home --- but Mulot is also a must-stop for food enthusiasts on pilgrimages through Paris. The shiny white store, with its broad display windows beneath crisp awnings, evokes awe from wide-eyed tourists, with cakes and tarts every bit as enticing as jewels glistening under coats of ganache or pristine berries. Mulot is a great place to grab a jambon et fromage sandwich or slice of foie gras pâté for lunch at nearby Luxembourg Gardens, too. The shop’s religieuse (two stacked pastries decorated like a nun’s habit), éclairs and napoleons are all world-class, and the individual orange and lemon tarts show a remarkable balance of sugar and acid. Monsieur Mulot is also one of the city’s premier chocolatiers. Other locations.
