Goddess and The Baker Restaurant Review:
About the restaurant & décor: Goddess has grown up since its charming roots as a grab-and-go grocer/café in Bucktown. The River North location – dedicated but not limited to baked goods – is sleeker and more polished, yet still maintains the brand's signature whimsy. Steps from the Mag Mile, the place is more spacious than its downtown sisters, with two-tops and communal tables spread across the wide expanse looking out to bustling Grand Avenue. A web of string lights dangles from an indoor pergola, where a nearby coffee bar hums with the sounds of espressos in progress.
Likes: If you're in the mood for more than a bagel, you can grab a proper breakfast here (hint hint: the huevos rancheros tostadas).
Dislikes: Limited outlets, so if you're planning to work remotely, get there early.
Food & Drinks: Goddess plays to all cravings. There's an acai bowl for the health-minded; a Super Seed Avocado salad loaded with chia and flax seeds plus greens, carrots, cabbage and cucumbers; and a Garden Goddess wrap for fueling up before that conference call. Glass cases tempt with Willy Wonka-colored treats – the popular multilayered rainbow cake is fluffy, moist and not cloyingly sweet; and puffy macarons are in flavors like raspberry, maple pecan and Champagne rose. Creamy lattes with feathered foam taste as good as they photograph.
