The Gold Standard Cafe Restaurant Review:
Locals and graying Penn alumni may remember the original Gold Standard from 1979, a campus hot-spot owned by Roger Harman and Vincent Whittacre, who also brought the late Palladium and Abbraccio to University City. Happily, The Gold Standard is back, in a spot along bustling Baltimore Avenue, which has evolved into a veritable restaurant row in West Philly. Breakfast is served all day --- good to know when you hanker for an egg sandwich for dinner. The casual American menu is pleasing, from fresh salads and baked goods to a decent burger and plenty of vegetarian options.
