THIS RESTAURANT IS CLOSED Golden Room Restaurant Review:
This Thai-Chinese restaurant's deep turquoise interior---the floors, walls and ceiling all saturated in blue-green with gold accents---complements inventive presentations from the kitchen. Crispy rice noodles of mee krob have a colorful swirl of tamarind sauce and an artful dash of sprouts and green onion. Rice may arrive molded into the unmistakable shape of Texas. In true Thai and Texan tradition, expect spices that include plenty of heat. Ka-prao chicken, beef, pork and shrimp can be ordered mild, medium or hot, but even mild has plenty of kick. Along with Thai favorites such as pad thai, curries and garlic-infused entrées, the Golden Room offers a typical Chinese menu so that conservative diners can stick to egg rolls, wontons, chop suey and chow mein. By the way, there are no windows at all here, and some people find it uncomfortable and feel like a prisoner in a jewel box. Simply surrender.
