Goode Co. Barbeque Restaurant Review:
Jim Goode is the big personality behind this and the various other similarly named enterprises. But this restaurant is the original, born in 1977. Don't be daunted by the long lines, for this is one place that really knows how to move 'em in, serve 'em up and move 'em out, which is where you grab a spot at the picnic tables and enjoy the smell of mesquite smoke. Try the famous tender beef brisket, sliced or chopped, with a smoky barbecue sauce, or the sweet water duck, lean pork ribs, chicken or honey-smoked ham. Don't forget to grab a cold longneck beer and be sure and order the sides: Austin baked beans, smoky and sweetened with big chunks of tender apples, are not to be missed; ditto the jalapeño cheese bread and the Brazos Bottom pecan pie. Great spot for a family outing.
