THIS RESTAURANT IS CLOSED The Grand Restaurant Review:
The Grand is a throwback to the old days and these days, on an evening in the downriver community of Trenton, its a nice way to pretend youre back in those days. The main floor of this restored Victorian building, formerly a hotel, is given over to dining and cocktailing, but upstairs on a recent Saturday night a wedding reception rules. Eventually, the party spills out onto the second floor porch, giving restaurant patrons a glimpse of the festivities as they enter or leave. The Grands menu is not out of the old days, by the way, with enough items to remind you that you really are in the 21st century. A respectable bruschetta appetizer is one, a fine selection of char-grilled entrées is another. Among the highlights on the menu are pecan walleye with accents of honey mustard, and pork Normandy with sun-dried cherries and apple-brandy sauce. Salmon Wellington, which sounded intriguing with spinach and caramelized onion and a lemon cream sauce, was unfortunately not available on the night we craved it.
