THIS RESTAURANT IS CLOSED The Greenhouse Tavern Restaurant Review:
The Greenhouse Tavern opened as Ohio’s first certified-green restaurant. With chef Jonathon Sawyer at its helm, it boasts myriad earth-friendly features, most important among them the farm-to-table fare. Sawyer’s food, regardless of its origin, is approachable and unfussy. The menu, printed on 100 percent, post-consumer recycled fiber, is sectioned into firsts (small tastes), seconds (larger appetizers), thirds (full dinners) and halfs (accompaniments to share). For starters, try the artisanal jerky plate, which changes daily. Seconds propose the fried Brussels sprouts or the smoked pork ramen. Follow those with the pan-fried pork chop saltimbocca topped with a rich scrapple and red-eye gravy. We also recommend the whimsical Fred Flintstone beef short rib. Desserts include a ricotta fritter and a buttered popcorn pot de crème. The libations list is well crafted, with everything from wines and beers to single malt scotches and specialty spirits.
