The Grey Dog Restaurant Review:

The offspring of the popular Carmine Street sandwich and salad spot, this location of The Grey Dog is equally ambient. With exposed brick walls, carved-up wooden tables and rock music on the hi-fi, Grey Dog feels a lot like a university town eatery. And, in fact, the place is regularly packed with NYU students. The line that stretches across the room to the door with hungry folks waiting to order doesn’t always lend itself to a smooth experience (as many people practice the annoying New York habit of snagging an empty table while still at the back of the line). But once you sit down, it’s hard not to be happy here. The long list of sandwiches is highlighted by the turkey Rueben, which comes on ultra-thick wheat bread, and the Philly cheesesteak wrap (really, a cheesesteak burrito). The salads are huge and the soups are rich (the chilled avocado and corn soup is a meal in itself). Among an array of coffee drinks are a café au lait, caramel macchiato (other flavors are available, too) and iced coffee.
