Hama Sushi Restaurant Review:
About the restaurant: Hama Sushi is a no-frills (but high-quality) sushi spot well situated in the heart of Little Tokyo in Los Angeles. It's a longtime locals' favorite. The majority of the seating is around three sides of the sushi bar, but there are also a couple tables in the adjacent room. There are a few things to know before you go: reservations are not accepted, everything is à la carte (no omakase) and cell phone usage is frowned upon at the sushi bar.
Food & Drinks: Expect a traditional menu of sushi and sashimi only, along with hand rolls and cut rolls. A standout offering is the sweet shrimp. It's served as nigiri, followed by the deep-fried shrimp heads to be devoured in one delectable bite. Also, be sure to check the whiteboards on the walls for daily specials like monkfish liver or green mussels. Complement your meal with beer or saké.
