If you are in search of a genuine barbecue experience, with potent sauce, tart pickles and German potato salad, you won’t find it here. If, however, you are downtown looking for a bottled beer or cocktails, an inexpensive place to get a quick bite and maybe some live blues, Harlon’s suits the bill. Drinks such as sea breezes, tequila sunrises and others not normally associated with barbecue are the push here. We find the barbecue-ribs, brisket, links-and steam-table vegetables lacking the flavor you seek in such places, but Harlon’s has a friendly staff, air-conditioning and much lower prices than the other eateries around the The Aerial Theater.
