Harvest Restaurant Review:
This original location of Harvest is nestled in a strip mall in sedate Oro Valley with a patio that allows for close up views of the Santa Catalina Mountains. The restaurant, as its name implies, highlights local, fresh ingredients, but thanks to a creative kitchen staff, dishes borrow flavors from around the world. Shrimp Santorini blends tender shrimp in a feta cheese sauce. There are pasta dishes aplenty, including two gnocchi plates: herbed gnocchi chicken scallopini with prosciutto, capers, tomatoes and artichoke hearts in a beurre blanc; and a vegan sweet potato version with many of the same ingredients. The three burgers on the dinner menu (lunch offers more burger options) have influences of France (burgundy), Mexico (relleno) and Argentina (chimichurri). All are made with grass-fed beef. At lunch, interesting takes on tacos and sandwiches are available. Sunday Brunch offerings range from the usual to the more offbeat, like a choice of carrot or zucchini bread french toast. A Sunset menu gives diners the opportunity to sample some of the more popular items at an earlier time and at lower prices. The cocktail list is fine and wine options will please just about every oenophile.
