Heartland Brewery Restaurant Review:
Okay, it might be a chainlet and New York certainly isn’t the heartland, but this Midwest-comes-to-Manhattan spot is worth checking out. The brews are evocative of the heartland---Cornhusker Lager, Harvest Wheat Beer, Indiana Pale Ale and Farmer Jon's Oatmeal Stout. The food, however, is all over the map: Maine crab cakes, seafood jambalaya, a Kentucky whiskey burger and a pulled barbecued pork sandwich. When the Union Square Greenmarket is set up across the street on Saturdays, this exposed-brick-walled brewpub is packed. Also located at 1285 Sixth Ave., 212-582-8244.
