Hi-Rise Bread Company Restaurant Review:
Stop in for a breakfast sandwich on some hot-out-of-the-oven bread, homemade soups and fresh salads at this artisanal bakeshop and all-day café. Owner Rene Becker thoughtfully studs brown bread with dried blueberries from Michigan, makes a yeasted cornbread, and re-imagines the Oreo cookie. Though the amount he charges for sandwiches has earned his company the nickname “Hi-Price,” they’re worth every cent, generously overstuffed with quality shrimp salad, pulled pork, spicy curried chicken, and so on. This Harvard Square branch occupies an old house with a leafy patio overlooking the bustle of Brattle Street.
